Best thing believers can do for Mr. Trump, and Mrs. Clinton ( a Thought on the Bible )

Listen to a Thought on the Bible here or read it below.

Hi I’m Billy David Dickson with a thought on the Bible.

I have a question today for us who are believers in Jesus. What is the best thing we can do for Mrs. Clinton, and Mr. Trump.

You might say to vote our Christian convictions. Yes we should do that this November and every election period.

However I am convinced it is to pray. Pray for Trump and Clinton. Pray for America. Ask God who you should vote for. Pray the church would keep proclaiming the good news no matter who is elected.

It tells us in the Bible in the book of 1st Timothy to pray for our leaders. Here is what it reads. “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior.”

When God’s people pray he moves. The Lord doesn’t doesn’t need us to pray but we need to pray.

For the sake of our leaders, future leaders, and for the sake of our nation lets turn to the living God.

What do you think?

That is a Bible thought.

Until next time,

I’m Billy David Dickson

A Catholic Church Gives Pro-Abortion Tim Kaine a Standing Ovation

On Sunday, Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine was given a standing ovation by his Catholic parish, California Catholic Daily reported. While his fellow parishioners are celebrating him as Hillary Clinton’s pro-abortion running mate, many Catholics are speaking out against him because of his position on abortion.
Kaine and his wife attend Mass at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Highland Park, Virginia. The priest at St. Elizabeth, the Rev. Jim Arsenault, told NPR that Kaine was “personally pro-life” — despite Kaine’s pro-abortion voting record.
“I know that he’s definitely against capital punishment and works to help defend those who are on death row,” Arsenault said. “The church has a teaching with regard to we’re pro-life, and we believe in that seamless garment of life. We respect sometimes lawmakers make difficult decisions.”

However, the U.S. Senator from Virginia has consistently proven himself to be pro-abortion. Kaine voted against the pro-life position every chance he got. Kaine voted to allow government funding of abortion providers, and he voted against legislation to require an abortionist to notify at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor girl from another state.

NBA Hypocrites

The unmistakable hypocrisy is clear

to me.”

Those words from North Carolina Congressman Robert Pittenger regarding the NBA’s decision to pull their 2017 all-star game from North Carolina because they won’t let men in the ladies restrooms and locker rooms.
Pittenger stated, “What hypocrisy! The NBA is actively involved in pursuing their preseason games in China, with atrocious human rights problems ongoing for decades…” “but North Carolina saying men shouldn’t use the girl[s’] locker room is a bridge too far?”

America has extreme laws on abortion

It hasn’t even been a month since the Supreme Court handed down a decision many saw as a massive setback for the pro-life movement. But new data shows that it’s the supporters of legal abortion, not pro-lifers, who face an uncertain future. PR Newswire reports that the Catholic organization, the Knights of Columbus, conducted a scientific survey of a thousand Americans, 18 and over. And the results were stunning.
Although around half of Americans still call themselves “pro-choice,” seventy-eight percent—nearly eight in ten in this country—support substantial restrictions on abortion. It turns out not all Americans who call themselves “pro-choice” take the extreme position that abortion should be legal at any stage of pregnancy for any reason.
And the younger the survey participant, the less pro-choice they become. A similar study by Students for Life of America found that just seventeen percent of millennials support anything-goes abortion. Most, it turns out, want abortion heavily regulated and restricted to the earliest stages of pregnancy. In fact, an astonishing sixty-two percent of those who describe themselves as “pro-choice” believe abortion should be banned after the first trimester!
But it gets even more interesting and relevant to current debates. The study also found that over sixty percent of Americans oppose taxpayer funding for abortions, and nearly eight in ten want abortion clinics held to the same standard as other outpatient surgery centers—a rule the U.S. Supreme Court just struck down in Texas. And speaking of the Supreme Court, seventy percent of those surveyed say doctors who perform abortions should be required to have hospital admitting privileges—another Texas requirement declared unconstitutional by the Court. And most remarkably, Americans agree by a margin of 20 percent that religious healthcare providers should not be forced to perform abortions against their deeply-held beliefs.

When the Sky Really Is Falling

( Below is the Breakpoint radio commentary for today. )
It seems Chicken Little may be on to something.
My friend Rod Dreher is as sane and stable as anyone I know, and he’s saying, in essence, that the sky is falling. I reference his new article in The American Conservative, called “The Coming Christian Collapse.”
He begins by saying that the two-thirds of millennials who were raised religiously unaffiliated still have no denominational identity today. Unlike previous generations, they’re not joining churches as they get older and raise kids.
Second, Rod says, “Millennials, even those who identify as Christians, are shockingly illiterate, both in terms of what the Bible says and more generally regarding what Christianity teaches.” This growing biblical illiteracy has led to a moral decline of our young people into consumerism, drug abuse, sexual liberation, and civic and political disengagement.
Third, Rod says that the working class has largely abandoned the church, and that if the middle class follows suit, as appears likely, the church will be in a world of hurt. He quotes the late Michael Spencer, who warned of a coming evangelical collapse: “We Evangelicals have failed to pass on to our young people an orthodox form of faith that can take root and survive the secular onslaught.”
These are chilling words. We talk a lot on BreakPoint about external threats to our souls, and rightly so. But as Abraham Lincoln once said in another context, “If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.”
daily_commentary_07_27_16Yet I am hopeful, as every Christian must be. As my colleague John Stonestreet says so often, we are part of the grand story of the universe. And God is the author of that story. Yes, as Peter reminds us, we will have to suffer “various trials.” But why? “So that the authenticity of [our] faith . . . may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:6-7)”.
This is not new. Back in the ‘30s and ‘40s, German Christians had to take a clear stand or be absorbed or compromised by evil—and some, like Bonhoeffer, chose the cross. Look at our brothers and sisters in the Middle East. Now, I’m not ready to say we American Christians may soon have to apostasize or die, but I can’t help but think of the words of the late Cardinal George, who said he would die in his bed, his successor would die in prison, and his successor will die a martyr in the public square.
So, what do we do? We repent—repent of our sins, the sins of the church, and, yes, the sins of our nation: the sins of pride, racism, sexual libertinism, greed, lust for power, and a callous disregard for human life among them.
Second, we must recommit ourselves to Jesus. We need to seek the mind of Christ, to think and to act as Christians, to know our Bible and to live by it in the power of the Spirit, “making the most of your time, for the days are evil.” We must commit anew to forming a biblical worldview and evaluating everything in our lives in light of it.
We must recommit our time and our treasure to evangelism, missions, and Christ’s command in Matthew 25 to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, and visit the prisoner. Christian faith is not a nice add-on to our agendas, it’s the very marrow of our lives.
The question is this: Will we love God with our whole heart, soul, and mind, and our neighbor as ourselves?
But don’t be intimidated by the internal and external challenges we face. Remember that God can do very much with very little, and that success doesn’t depend on political or cultural power. While the Church may face trials, the gates of hell will not prevail, and Christ’s victory is assured.

I’m sorry
