Port St. Lucie mom arrested after allowing her 7-year-old son to go to a nearby park alone

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – UPDATE: Nicole Gainey says she was told by a Florida Department of Children and Families official to expect the case to be dropped.

A mother faces a charge of child neglect after she allowed her son to go to a local park alone. She says he’s old enough but Port St. Lucie Police disagree. Now she’s fighting back.

“I’m totally dumbfounded by this whole situation,” said the mother, Nicole Gainey.

It began last Saturday afternoon when Gainey gave her son Dominic permission to walk from their house to Sportsman’s Park .

‘Time for Papacy to Get Out in Front of Christian Massacre’
Presbyterian Church USA Criticizes Israel, Ignores Christian Persecution
Lordship salvation is not biblical?

‘Time for Papacy to Get Out in Front of Christian Massacre’

Tonight, Christians in the Middle East marked for death because of their faith, and no one is fighting for them.

As Christians are slaughtered, churches torched, and families forced from their homeland, the mass murder of Christians is underway. While Israeli Jews are under similar attack, at least they have Netanyahu, a leader who is willing to fight to the death.

So, who should be defending Christians? Who? The leader of the Catholic Church, the pope, the man who shepherds the faithful.

Now, it may seem to you that the destruction of biblical antiquities, the looting of churches, and the persecution of Christians are a half a globe away. It’s someone else’s problem. After all, you’re safe. You live in the United States of America.

Presbyterian Church USA Criticizes Israel, Ignores Christian Persecution

Days before the recent Israel/Hamas conflict erupted, the Presbyterian Church USA withdrew $21 million worth in investments from Israel because, as spokesman Heath Rada put it, the Israeli government’s actions “harm the Palestinian people.”

Soon after, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and was asked if he was “troubled” by the Presbyterian Church’s move. Netanyahu responded:

It should trouble all people of conscience and morality because it’s so disgraceful. You know, you look at what’s happening in the Middle East and I think most Americans understand this, they see this enormous area riveted by religious hatred, by savagery of unimaginable proportions. Then you come to Israel and you see the one democracy that upholds basic human rights, that guards the rights of all minorities, that protects Christians—Christians are persecuted throughout the Middle East. So most Americans understand that Israel is a beacon of civilization and moderation. You know I would suggest to these Presbyterian organizations to fly to the Middle East, come and see Israel for the embattled democracy that it is, and then take a bus tour, go to Libya, go to Syria, go to Iraq, and see the difference. And I would give them two pieces of advice, one is, make sure it’s an armor plated bus, and second, don’t say that you’re Christians.

Lordship salvation is not biblical?

Though there are variations on what Lordship Salvation really is, it is basically the view that in order to become a true Christian a person must receive Jesus as both Savior and Lord and that he must also cease from sin or be willing to cease from sin in order to be saved (i.e., repent). The controversy deals with whether or not salvation is a one- or two-step process. Is salvation by faith alone, and nothing beyond it is required (one step)? Or, is faith to be accompanied by a submission to the Lordship of Christ and repentance (two steps)–both of which result in salvation? Let’s see if we can make sense of it.

Related to this topic is what is called the ordo salutis, the order of salvation. As it relates to this discussion, we have to ask if regeneration precedes faith or does faith proceed regeneration? If regeneration precedes faith, then God is changing the person and enabling him to believe the gospel and repent. Furthermore, this would mean that salvation and turning from sin are the result of God’s regenerative work and would be, of course, a natural consequence of His making us new creatures (2 Corinthians 5:17). If, however, faith proceeds regeneration, then a person’s decision to believe in God and the gospel would also require an attempt to turn from one’s sinful behavior (Mark 1:15). It is in this second position that the controversy arises.
