Noah’s ark project in KY to move forward; Bill Nye upset about it

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (February 28, 2014) – A Christian ministry’s long-stalled plans to build Noah’s Ark in the hills of Kentucky have been revived.

Creation Museum founder Ken Ham announced Thursday that a municipal bond offering has raised enough money to begin construction on the Ark Encounter project, estimated to cost about $73 million. Groundbreaking is planned for May and the ark is expected to be finished by the summer of 2016.

Ham said a high-profile evolution debate he had with “Science Guy” Bill Nye on Feb. 4 helped boost support for the project.

Nye said he was “heartbroken and sickened for the Commonwealth of Kentucky” after learning that the project would move forward. He said the ark would eventually draw more attention to the beliefs of Ham’s ministry, which preaches that the Bible’s creation story is a true account, and as a result, “voters and taxpayers in Kentucky will eventually see that this is not in their best interest.”

Don’t refuse to bake a cake for gays says Cal Thomas

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IS UNDER ATTACK IN AMERICA. LOOK AT THE HEAVY HAND OF OABAMACARE THAT WANTS TO MANDATE PEOPLE OF FAITH ACCEPT THE GOVERNMENT’S DEMAND THEY PROVIDE CONTRACEPTIVES AND ABORTIFACIENTS IN THEIR HEALTH CARE PLANS. BUT THE CASE OF AN ARIZONA COUPLE WHO REFUSED TO BAKE A WEDDING CAKE FOR A LESBIAN COUPLE IS THE WRONG GROUND ON WHICH TO CONDUCT THIS BATTLE.

BY THE TIME THIS AIRS, ARIZONA GOVERNOR JAN BREWER MAY HAVE EITHER SIGNED OR VETOED A RELIGIOUS FREEDOM BILL. IT IS DESIGNED TO PROTECT ESPECIALLY CHRISTIAN BUSINESS OWNERS, BUT COULD IN THE END HARM THEM. IF NOT BAKING LESBIANS A WEDDING CAKE IS OK IN A PUBLIC BUSINESS, WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF PAUL’S LIST OF UNREPENTANT SINNERS WHO AREN’T GOING TO HEAVEN? WOULD THE COUPLE REFUSE TO BAKE A CAKE FOR LIARS? WHAT ABOUT FORNICATORS, OR PEOPLE WHO DIVORCE, OR HETEROSEXUAL COUPLES WHO LIVE TOGETHER AND ARE NOT MARRIED?( Read the rest of this commentary by Cal Thomas. or listen to the audio.)

Abortion leads to suicide but God is willing to forgive every sin

The Associated Press, People, & E! Online all missed what led to the suicide of Model Charlotte Dawson.

Australian TV star, Charlotte Dawson had beauty, fame, and money. She also had an abortion.

In her book, “Air Kiss and Tell”, Dawson wrote about having an abortion because her husband, Olympic Swimmer Scott Miller, “hesitated” at the news of their baby. He, apparently, didn’t want anything to interfere with his quest for the gold. She wrote that this was her first experience with depression–something she battled for the next 14 years.

Prison isn’t always the answer to crime

In the opinion of “the one-stop source for conservative ideas on criminal justice,” jail is not justified for all criminals.

Jerry Madden of Right on Crime, a project of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, says people are sent to prison because society is afraid of or mad at them. The end result is prison overcrowding, as states do not want to take on the cost of building new facilities.

“We figured out that we had to do some stuff to do one of two things,” the former lawmaker accounts. “We either had to figure out how to let people out of prison, which really wasn’t going to be very popular in Texas, or we had to figure out how to slow them down coming into the prison system; how do we make it so that fewer people get to prison?”
