Power ball thoughts

Everyone seems excited about the power ball and a chance to become rich.
Below is something I posted yesterday on a friend’s Facebook page who wrote about the power ball.
Why not have a power ball where all the money goes to churches and other groups that help those in need. People should rely on God and hard work to to get money. The Bible says if you don’t work you shouldn’t eat. I always thought that meant people who could work but instead sit at home and get a check from uncle Sam. I am now wondering if it could also mean those who gamble and play power balls. Just a thought and question.

In Chicago, Team Bears in Mind Fan Values

The Chicago Bears would like to get their paws on more revenue–but not if it means advertising for casinos! The NFL season hasn’t started, but fans of the Chicago Bears can chalk up a victory. For the first time, a new league rule is giving teams the option of running ad blitzes for casinos. While other franchises race to take advantage, the Bears have declined. “I’m sure there’s a good group of teams out there scraping for every dollar,” said team Vice President Chad Hibbs.

Michigan lotto winner charged with welfare fraud

A Michigan woman who continued to get food stamps after winning a $1 million lottery jackpot was arraigned Tuesday on welfare fraud charges.

Amanda Clayton, 25, of Lincoln Park was arrested on Monday. If convicted of the two felony charges, she could face up to four years in prison.

“It’s simply common sense that million dollar lottery winners forfeit their right to public assistance,” Attorney General Bill Schuette said in a statement Tuesday. “We will continue to work with local, state and federal authorities to uphold state laws intended to ensure wise stewardship of taxpayer dollars.”
