Chuck Norris: A True ‘Kung Fu’ Christian

Carlos Ray “Chuck” Norris (born March 10, 1940) is an American martial artist, action star and television and film actor who is known for action roles such as Cordell Walker on WALKER, TEXAS RANGER and for his iconically tough image and roundhouse kick.
But, in an interview with me for ANS and Safe World’s IPTV News on Wednesday, February 11, 2009) at the 17th Annual Movieguide® Faith and Values Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, he revealed that he is now also a “Kung Fu” Christian.

“You know,” he said, “when you try to do it without God in your life — which I tried for a lot of years in my film business and in the film world — and even though I was successful, I was very unhappy. I had a huge hole in my heart and once I met my wife and reestablished my faith in God and things turned around for me and made ‘WALKER’ more successful and made my life a lot happier.”

Norris then spoke about the difference knowing God can make in a person’s life.

“I’ve been on both sides of the road,” he said. “I’ve been there without God and I’ve been there with God and believe me it’s much more rewarding and fulfilling when God is on your side.”

Chuck Norris also spoke about how encouraged he is that so many family-friendly films are now on the market and were being honored by Movieguide® at their annual gala.

“I knew that if you got some good films up there that were faith-based, they would do well at the box office,” he said. “People are really hungry for that on television and in film. When FACING THE GIANTS came out, which was a low budget film that was made for a hundred-thousand dollars, it touched the hearts of a lot of people and it touched my heart. In fact, it’s one of my all time favorites.

(God has truly done a work in this man’s life which He can do in all of us if we will submit to Him and His will. Pray for those in the media.  Read the rest of this story Chuck Norris: A True ‘Kung Fu’ Christian.)

Ministry ‘famine’ kicks off this weekend

One ministry is giving teenagers a chance to see what it is like for millions around the world who have to go hungry.

This weekend, World Vision is sponsoring what it calls the 30 Hour Famine. Pat Rhoads with the ministry explains the initiative.

“Teens are going to fast for 30 hours to get just a small taste of what it’s like to be hungry. Leading up to that time, they’re going to find people who will make donations to World Vision through them,” he notes. “We recommend that they try to find someone who will donate a dollar for every hour they go without eating. Each dollar they raise will help feed and care for a child for a day.

(This is a great idea. People of all ages don’t understand how blessed we have been by God. The Bible does  teach those who have been blessed should use their blessing to bless others. Read more on the above story Ministry ‘famine’ kicks off this weekend )

Free speech upheld in Montana church

The Alliance Defense Fund has won a major court decision for the church.

The Canyon Ferry Baptist Church in East Helena, Montana, ran into trouble with a state commissioner when it showed a video supporting traditional marriage in an evening service and urged members to support a constitutional marriage amendment on an upcoming ballot. Based on a complaint from a homosexual activist group, the commissioner said the church should register as an “incidental political committee,” according to an Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) press release.

(This brings to my mind  a question what should churches and followers of  Jesus do if they are told they can’t  witness, preach, or teach what the Bible says. Should we fight the law or should we do what Paul and Peter did when they said we will obey God rather than men. Read more on the above issue Free speech upheld in Montana church.)

Chinese officials seize home of Christian

The government-sanctioned church in China is being accused of working with communist officials to persecute unregistered house churches.

Last month, officials from the Three-Self Patriotic Movement, Religious Affairs Bureau, and the Public Security Bureau confiscated the home of 54-year-old Chang Fenying. For several years, her home was the site of underground, unregistered house church meetings.

But Katherine Cason with China Aid Association says the communist Chinese government has stepped up the persecution, targeting Chang and the believers who meet with her.

(I think all of us need to think about this next time we think we aren’t being treated right because of our faith. There are people who truly are suffering for one main reason their faith in Jesus Christ. Read more of the above story Chinese officials seize home of Christian.)

It’s Lent, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up chocolate

It’s Lent, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up chocolate. Here is a great radio commentary on what you do or don’t have to give up for Lent. Do take time to listen to it, it is very short if you don’t have much time. A Fast that Counts – Prison Fellowship.

Lutherans Weigh Letting Congregations Permit Gay Clergy.) –

America’s largest Lutheran denomination will consider allowing individual congregations to choose whether to allow gays and lesbians in committed relationships to serve as clergy, an attempt to avoid the sort of infighting that has threatened to tear other churches apart.

A task force of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America recommended that course Thursday in a long-awaited report on ministry standards. The panel, however, said the church needs to clarify a number of questions before overhauling its gay clergy policy.

The report, issued at the same time as a broader church social statement on human sexuality, seeks balance on an issue dividing many Protestant churches. Both documents will be considered in August in Minneapolis at the biannual convention of the 4.7-million member denomination.

“At this point, there is no consensus in the church,” said the Rev. Peter Strommen of Prior Lake, Minnesota, chairman of the 15-member task force on sexuality. “The question ends up being, ‘How are we going to live together in that absence of consensus?

(A thing which bugs that all Lutherans should be asking and trying to find out is what does the Bible say on this matter. Churches should be one place where we decide what to do based on the Lordship of God’s word. Read more on this issue  Lutherans Weigh Letting Congregations Permit Gay Clergy.) –

First openly gay or lesbian person to head a rabbinical assembly,

Rabbi Ellen Weinberg Dreyfus, who leads a small congregation in suburban Chicago, will become the second woman to head the rabbinical assembly of Judaism’s liberal Reform movement.

In October, Rabbi Julie Schonfeld was named executive vice president of the Conservative movement’s Rabbinical Assembly. Rabbi Toba Spitzer, the first openly gay or lesbian person to head a rabbinical assembly, became president of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association in 2007.

(There are different views on if women should have spiritual leadership in a place of worship.  As  a Bible based follower of Jesus I will say I don’t believe women should have leadership over men. However the Bible including the Torah does teach the gay and lesbian life is sinful. Places of worship should welcome those people but they should never be made spiritual leaders until they repent of that life. Read more on this issue Chicago-Area Female Rabbi to Lead Reform .)

    Sex in the Bible

THE 18-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER OF SARAH PALIN, BRISTOLPALIN, HAS DONE AN INTERVIEW with Fox News. IN IT SHE SAYS SHE DOESN’T BELIEVE ABSTINENCE TEACHING IS “REALISTIC.” AND SHE SAYS HER MOTHER’S PRO-LIFE POSITION DIDN’T INFLUENCE HER. SHE SAID IT WAS HER CHOICE TO DELIVER AND KEEP THE BABY.

BRISTOL ALSO SAYS SHE AND THE CHILD’S FATHER WILL GET MARRIED SOMEDAY, BUT WANT TO FINISH SCHOOL FIRST. BRISTOL SAYS SHE WISHES SHE HAD WAITED TEN YEARS BEFORE HAVING A CHILD.

Bristol is wrong. Why because I don’t agree with her or do people on the right? Nope Bristol is wrong and needs a spanking because she doesn’t agree with what the word of God the Bible teaches.

To find out what the Bible has to say on this matter watch a video I have posted,
