An Unlikely View…a Different Review on Beauty and the Beast

This movie was not created to be a catalyst for the gospel. It was not designed with an agenda to lead people to the cross or challenge them in their walk with the Lord…and yet that is exactly what our family took away. Was there sin in the movie – yes. There was a hateful man that treated women and men like the dirt beneath his feet, who lied, who abused, who lifted himself above everyone else. There was the inclusion of magic, of prejudice, the belittling of women, the hint of homosexuality, the abuse of the elderly, the worship of idols to name just a few. Not a one of these sins greater than the next; not a one less ungodly than the the other. None of them so blatant – all just a piece of the tapestry of the film. As a mama, I had a choice. I could have pointed out all of these things to my children before going into the theater.I could have painted a picture of hating all of these things and they would have watched the movie through that lens – absolutely. Instead, I asked them to view with God in mind. They did observe those same things, these sinful moments, but with the perspective of God in mind they viewed them with a broken heart, from a place of understanding our need for Jesus in this world. My little girl hopeful that she too would come to a place where she trusted the hope that is in Jesus – that she doesn’t have to be a ‘beast ‘ forever. My oldest challenged in his faith, strengthened in his walk. Their mama moved beyond what she can adequately express.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

A Charlie Brown Christmas opens with Charlie Brown in his usual state of mild depression, searching for the meaning of something. This time it is the true meaning of Christmas. He proclaims to Lucy that it just does not feel like Christmas and that his problem is that he just doesn’t understand it. Lucy charges Charlie Brown five cents and tells him nothing of any value; her solution is a naturalistic approach with a focus on monetary gain.
Charlie Brown’s little sister, Sally, is a prototypical adolescent. She proclaims that all she wants for Christmas is everything that is coming to her; she wants her fair share. She represents the voice of all who equate Christmas primarily with a time of getting presents. It is sad when a child believes this about Christmas; it is tragic when an adult holds the same view. Lucy interrupts the exchange between Charlie Brown and his sister Sally to announce that we all know that Christmas is a big commercial racket. The truth here is that we all know that Christmas has become a big commercial racket; the tragedy is that we do so little about it.

Me Before You ( movie review )save your money

This movie doesn’t show the true Clarence Thomas ( don’t waste your money on it )

A new movie called “Confirmation” tells the story of the Clarence Thomas Senate hearings but from a distorted liberal perspective. Senator Alan Simpson, a key participant in the hearings, described the movie as “seriously distorted” based on his review of the script, and former White House lawyer Mark Paoletta said “it’s a dishonest film. … It’s a propaganda piece for Hillary Clinton’s run for the White House.”The real Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings riveted the nation. It was a stunning triumph of justice, and a victory for the pro-life movement at a time when there were few pro-life senators. Liberals like to pretend that black conservatives don’t exist. So when George H.W. Bush appointed Thomas to fill Thurgood Marshall’s vacant seat, Democrats went ballistic in trying to stop the confirmation. Thomas survived intense grilling by the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Democrats were unable to poke a hole in Thomas’s answers after nearly a month of tough questions.
