Preaching another Bible

Below is a link to a radio commentary Cal Thomas did  on how some churches are preaching another Bible and forgetting what the Bible says who can be a leader in a church. It looks like some churches are forgetting they should be submitted to the Lordship of Jesus and His word- the Bible.

Changing America

I believe  America as great as she is needs a spiritual and moral change which only God can bring. I believe this as somebody who  writes, blogs and has worked with kids in many ways including at a school and as a  youth leader and Sunday School teacher.

You many not agree with that.

A book that was written a number of years ago by a  man named Dan Betzer who is a Pastor in  Florida and for many years was the speaker on the radio program  Revivaltime.

So how will we see a change in America. It must come from the Lord.

2 Chr. 7:14.

Missionary booted from Vietnam…again

Paul Ai, the Vietnamese-American pastor under city arrest recently in Ho Chi Minh, has been released.

While under arrest, Ai was followed by police everywhere he went, including when he walked a few blocks away from his hotel to eat. Bruce Sonnenberg of He Intends Victory, who serves on Paul Ai’s board, explains what happened.

“Twelve police burst into the restaurant, only to see that he was sitting there eating — so they ended up sitting at the table next to him, having dinner,” Sonnenberg shares. “He also went on to share the Lord with his captors. I mean, he’s not ashamed of the gospel in any way, and he wanted them to know that Jesus loves them.”

Later Ai attended a church service, and the officers sat behind him — making the second time they were exposed to the gospel. Although Ai was escorted to the airport and told not to return to Vietnam, he is planning his next trip. Sonnenberg explains why.

(Good for this Godly Pastor who truly is not ashamed of his Lord Jesus. May this news report convict us. Read about this Pastor Missionary booted from Vietnam…again.)

AN EMOTIONAL EASTER EGG STORY

( Today being Resurrection Sunday-Easter here is a story which is so cool.) Jeremy was born with a twisted body, a slow mind and a chronic, terminal illness that had been slowly killing him all his young life. Still, his parents had tried to give him as normal a life as possible and had sent him to St. Theresa’s elementary school. At the age of 12, Jeremy was only in second grade, seemingly unable to learn. His teacher, Doris Miller, often became exasperated with him. He would squirm in his seat, drool and make grunting noises. At other times, he spoke clearly and distinctly, as if a spot of light had penetrated the darkness of his brain. Most of the time, however, Jeremy irritated his teacher. One day, she called his parents and asked them to come to St. Teresa’s for a consultation. As the Foresters sat quietly in the empty classroom, Doris said to them, “Jeremy really belongs in a special school. It isn’t fair to him to be with younger children who don’t have learning problems. Why, there is a five-year gap between his age and that of the other students!” Mrs. Forrester cried softly into a tissue while her husband spoke. “Miss Miller,” he said, “there is no school of that kind nearby. It would be a terrible shock for Jeremy if we had to take him out of this school. We know he really likes it here.” Doris sat for a long time after they left, staring at the snow outside the window. Its coldness seemed to seep into her soul. She wanted to sympathize with the Foresters. After all, their only child had a terminal illness. But it wasn’t fair to keep him in her class. She had 18 other youngsters to teach and Jeremy was a distraction. Furthermore, he would never learn to read or write. Why spend any more time trying? As she pondered the situation, guilt washed over her. “Oh God,” she said aloud, “here I am complaining when my problems are nothing compared with that poor family! Please help me to be more patient with Jeremy.” From that day on, she tried hard to ignore Jeremy ‘s noises and his blank stares. Then one day he limped to her desk, dragging his bad leg behind him. “I love you, Miss Miller,” he exclaimed, loudly enough for the whole class to hear. The other children snickered, and Doris’s face turned red. She stammered, “-why, that’s very nice, Jeremy. Now please take your seat.” Spring came, and the children talked excitedly about the coming of Easter. Doris told them the story of Jesus, and then to emphasize the idea of new life springing forth, she gave each of the children a large plastic egg. “Now,” she said to them “I want you to take this home and bring it back tomorrow with something inside that shows new life. Do you understand?” “Yes, Miss Miller!” The children responded enthusiastically – all except for Jeremy. He just listened intently; his eyes never left her face. He did not even make his usual noises. Had he understood what she had said about Jesus’ death and resurrection? Did he understand the assignment? Perhaps she should call his parents and explain the project to them. That evening, Doris’ kitchen sink stopped up. She called the landlord and waited an hour for him to come by and unclog it. After that, she still had to shop for groceries, iron a blouse and prepare a vocabulary test for the next day. She completely forgot about phoning Jeremy ‘s parents.

Faith and ritual mix on Good Friday

Dozens of Catholic devotees were nailed to crosses, scores more whipped their backs and others chanted the Passion of Jesus Christ as Filipinos mixed faith and gory ritual on Good Friday. (  Faith and ritual mix on Good Friday  )Frowned on by church authorities, the voluntary crucifixions in villages north of the capital Manila are one of the most extreme displays of religious devotion in Asia’s largest Roman Catholic state.

Monsignor Pedro Quitorio, spokesman of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, said the church discourages such rituals because the penitents were expecting rewards for hurting themselves.

“We only encourage the faithfuls to fast, pray and confess their sins,” Quitorio told Reuters. “We can’t stop the practice. It is not necessary, but the church has no police power. These rituals challenge us to guide our flock on the true teachings of the Catholic church.”

(I guess these souls have not read in their Bibles where Jesus said it is finished.)

Happy Passover

A Blessed Passover to all of my Jewish readers. To find out what Passover is all about watch part of a video I did a few nights ago   Passover story .

Dr. Laura and the Mormon Faith

Last week I had Dr. Laura on the radio. I don’t always agree with her but I do respect her values and I am blessed by her love for kids.

However on this day the good doctor was wrong. A lady who called in said her daughter was dating  a man from a cult. The cult was Mormonism. Dr. Laura told the lady she doesn’t call that a cult but a religion. She also told the lady they do a lot of good works. I agree they do a lot of good works but lets look at some of their doctrine in deciding if they are a cult or not.

Jesus is a separate god from the father. Jesus was married.
No way in the Bible does it say Jesus was married.

Bible based followers believe what the Bible teaches that Jesus is the second person of the Trinity. The Bible says Jesus and God the father are one.
VIEW OF THE BIBLE: MORMONISM: “Ignorant translators, careless subscribers, or designing and corrupt priests have committed many errors–many plain and precious things were deleted, in consequence of which error and falsehood poured into the various churches. One of the greatest heresies of modern Christendom is the unfounded assumption that the bible contains all the inspired teachings now extant among men.” (Mormon Doctrine p. 82, 83).

CHRISTIANITY: “All scripture is given by God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. ” 2 Timothy 3:16-17).
BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD AND GENEALOGY

MORMONISM: Mormons research genealogies and get baptized in their temples in proxy for their dead relatives. They misinterpret 1 Corinthians 15: 29 “Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?

CHRISTIANITY: Doing genealogies is useless for the Christian. (See 1 Timothy 1:3, 4). 1 Corinthians, Chapter 15, is on the subject of the resurrection, not baptism. I Cor. 15:29 shows the folly of THOSE (not WE believers but THOSE unbelievers) who denied the resurrection, and yet practiced the pagan rite of “baptism for the dead.” Hebrews 9:27 shows that once a person is dead, he faces judgment. Nothing the living do can change this.
The Mormon church teaches that it is the only hope for salvation. If this is true, then why did Jesus suffer on the cross?
For many in this world, salvation is truly a slippery slope. Oftentimes the problem is that one does not really know if he possesses it or not. One of the greatest barriers to realizing our position in Christ is that we do not have a clear understanding of the gospel. To understand the Mormon church’s teaching regarding salvation we must first realize what it believes the gospel to be.

By definition the Mormon church teaches that the gospel is the Mormon church system and its doctrine.{20} The church and its doctrine becomes the good news–their gospel.

For the Christian it’s not an organization but a Person who represents the gospel, and that Person is God’s only begotten son, Jesus Christ. It is the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ that embodies the gospel for the true Christian. Jesus is man’s savior. The Bible tells us that JESUS is the only way to God the Father.{21}
The Mormon Church is a cult because their teachings don’t line up with the Bible. Dr. Laura and others can disagree but that is the truth. I encourage all of you including those of you who are Mormons to compare the Bible and Mormon doctrine. Below are some links which I have used in writing this post.

Student fights school to establish Christian club

Atlanta Public Schools are facing a federal lawsuit over barring a Christian club. Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) is representing a mother and her son, who attends Sutton Middle School and wants to establish a Student to Student Club (STS). ADF senior legal counsel David Cortman explains. “For six months our client has been attempting in every manner possible merely to start a student Bible club,” he says.

(Good for this lady and her son. It is sad that our public  schools or as I call them government schools are afraid of God and faith. Perhaps that is the reason why so many parents have decided to educate their children in prive schools or at home. Read more about this case Student fights school to establish Christian club )
