Election prayers and verse for the election

( Below is something I posted four years ago. I think the point the post makes is worth repeating. Pray and vote. )

I am concern for America if the voters vote one way today.

I have been praying for the election during my morning prayer times and before I go to bed at night.

This morning I prayed..

A. We would know the results of the election early tonight.

B. That there would be no cheating and it would be fair to both sides.

Also here is a good Bible verse if you are worried about the election.

Philippians 4:6

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Christmas story is a story of..

Christmas story is a story of..
( Below is a Christmas sermon I posted last year around this time

. May it bless you and may God use it to draw you closer to the savior. )
Matthew 1:18-24

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”–which means, “God with us.” When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
The true Christmas story is a story of…
A. Obedience to God: Joseph and Mary both obeyed God.Every act of obeying God is an act of worship. When we hear something taught at church or by a spiritual leader all we can do is check to see if it is in the word of God and if it is obey it regardless of the cost.

Joseph: Wanted to do what was right but he also did not want to shame Mary. A young Jewish girl who had a baby who was not married would become an outcast but one of the above verses says he did not want to expose her to public disgrace. However when an angel spoke to Joseph telling him what was conceived in her was the Savior and that he should not be afraid to take Mary home as his wife he obeyed the Lord.

Worship means to knowledge who God is and what he has done.
B. The God of the impossible:

The thing that was so amazing about how Jesus came into this world was not his birth. He was born like other babies. Think about it. The thing that was so amazing is how he was conceived. If Mary was not a virgin when Jesus was born you can forget the Bible and burn it. Because then the whole Christian message is a lie. Jesus mission was to revel to us God the father. Some try to live the Christian life without Jesus. The Christian life is not hard apart from Jesus it is impossible without Jesus. Impossible odds are God’s kind of odds. Luke 18:27 says nothing is impossible with God. The key is having Jesus.

So what are the things God has done that are impossible apart from him but he has made possible.
1. Creation: Genesis 1:1-31 ESV /

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

This world was not created by any person it was made by the creator of this world God himself.
2. Human life: Genesis 1:27

English Standard Version (ESV)

27 So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him;

male and female he created them.

Your life is no accident, you were created by a loving God. Is it any wonder we have kids having babies, or doing horrible crimes like murdering others. We keep telling them in the government schools that they came from apes. If you tell people a lie long enough there will come a time when they will embrace it.
3. Know God: John 1:12

English Standard Version (ESV)

12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

There is a lie that is taught in our world and sadly even some churches preach it. That is that everyone in this world is a child of God. No they are not.Every soul is a creation of God but not a child of God now every soul can become a child of God by trusting Jesus to be their Savior.

Christians have been rooted because work of God.
C. Christmas is a story of a faithful God: Just like God was faithful to send his son that first Christmas to save us who were lost, he is faithful today to come into and remain in the souls of all those who call on him as their Lord Jesus.

You can not do some kind of good work to get salvation or to keep salvation.
How do we know God is faithful?
1. God is Faithful in Mercy.

“Because of the Lord’s faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!” Lam 3:22-23

Jeremiah wrote the book of Lamentations in despair. He was in anguish over the destruction of Jerusalem. In the early part of this chapter, Jeremiah is grieved that God seems to have ignored his prayers.

“Even when I cry out and plead for help, He rejects my prayer.” Lam 3:8

Yet his hope was in the character of God. He knew God’s mercy would come in the morning.
2. God is Faithful to His Plans
“Yes, I have spoken; so I will also bring it about. I have planned it; I will also do it.” Isa 46:11
The words of God are not like the words of men. We lose focus, grow tired, change our mind, rethink a plan based on new information. God is quite the opposite. He’s not susceptible to weakness.
God is the very definition of wisdom. There is nothing in His eternal perspective that would catch Him by surprise. It’s impossible for Him to have new information, because He knows all things.
God’s words are firm. His eternal promises are set and will not change.
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.” Matt 24:35
3. God is Faithful in Love
“‘Though the mountains move and the hills shake, My love will not be removed from you and My covenant of peace will not be shaken,’ says your compassionate Lord.” Isa 54:10
Love is an essential part of God’s character (1 Jn 4:8). Through whatever we may do to provoke God, He is faithful to love and preserve His people, because He cannot deny Himself (2 Tim 2:13).
The love of God is stronger than the firmest foundations of earth. Even if everything that we hold dear to on earth is removed, God’s love is faithful forever.
Whoever God has shown love to, He will always preserve. His love has no end.

Romans 8:32-39

32 He who did not spare his own Son but rgave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? sIt is God who justifies. 34 tWho is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—uwho is at the right hand of God, vwho indeed is interceding for us.10 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

w“For your sake xwe are being killed all the day long;

we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than yconquerors through zhim who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Those who think you can lose your salvation must think there comes a time when God will stop loving his children. God will discipline his children but he doesn’t punish his children. Punishment is for the non believer.
4. God is Faithful to Forgive
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 Jn 1:9
In comparison to God, our weakness is obvious. There is no perfection within us, no righteous that can bear with any measure to God’s perfect holiness. We all make mistakes. We all are disobedient to the ways of God. We all sin.
To justify their actions, people often compare themselves to others: “I’m not like that guy.” But God’s standard are much higher than our own.
We think with a temporary mindset. God makes His judgments within eternity. Given an eternal amount of time, the supposed “small” marks of sin in my life will certainly make me a forever wretch.
The desperate need of humanity is eternal forgiveness from sin. This is only available through the sacred price paid by the Son of God on the cross.
For those who have put their faith in Jesus and confessed their sins to God, we have become His children. God will not change His mind. We are cleansed in Christ. God is faithful to forgive.
In conclusion let me ask you a question that gets to the heart of the matter is Christmas just another day to you or is it about God sending his son Jesus down to earth to be born, and to die, then to rise again from the dead so that we who are dead spirituality can be born again by his spirit and made alive.

The only way to do that is to receive Jesus. You can not do anything to earn his love or salvation but like a gift under your tree you must receive him.

It is not Christmas until it happens in your heart so take Jesus today and then it will really be Christmas for you.

If you are ready to do that pray a simple prayer like this.

Dead Lord:

I admit I am a sinner. Thank you for dying in my place, taking my punishment. Today I welcome you into my soul and life. Take control of my life. I receive you as savior and Lord of my life. Thank you for coming into my life. Make me into the person you want me to be.

In Jesus name amen.

Why Jesus is better than Santa Claus ( one of Billy’s best blog posts )

Jesus is better than

Santa Claus..December 27, 2014 – 4:27 am

Listen to the commentary  or read it below.

Something good if used to an extreme is not good or if it becomes a god thing it becomes a bad thing right.

Santa Claus has been an issue of debate among Christian parents and the church for awhile. I don’t have a problem with Santa Claus unless one puts Santa before Jesus. By the way there was a real guy named Santa who used to give gifts to others in the name of Christ. Perhaps we should teach our kids more about that Santa.

I want to read part of something I found on the net. I am going to post the whole piece in this posting below because it is too long for me to read.

It is called Why Jesus is better than Santa Claus.

Santa lives at the North Pole…

JESUS is everywhere.
Santa rides in a sleigh…

JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.
Santa comes but once a year…

JESUS is an ever present help.
Santa fills your stockings with goodies…

JESUS supplies your needs.
While Santa puts gifts under your tree…

JESUS became our gift and died on a tree…the cross.
Don’t forget the truth of the following Christmas song.

“Christmas -isn’t Christmas

‘til it happens in your heart

Somewhere -deep inside you

Is where Christmas really starts

So give –your -heart to Jesus

You’ll discover when you do

That is Christmas -Really Christmas

for you ”

What do you think.

Merry Christmas!

Until next time,
