13 Reasons why is not a good TV show for teens and it does encourage suicide

Parents of students at Millard Public Schools received an email Wednesday about a popular Netflix series and its numerous themes.

The series, “13 Reasons Why,” based on a popular book by Jay Asher, is largely about high school students attempting to piece together a story left behind by a student who committed suicide.

“The episodes expose viewers to numerous other social issues that could be difficult for young students to understand and process,” the email said.

“Mental health professionals have expressed concerns that the series does not offer information regarding mental illness and available support.”
