Defeating temptation  ( a thought on the Bible )

( Listen to a thought on the Bible or read it below. )

Child of God is the devil driving you nuts, because he is temping you. Of course he is temping you.

Hi: I’m Billy David Dickson with a thought on the Bible.

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ you will be tempted by the evil one.The devil is after those who are part of God’s family. And he for sure is after those children of God who are making a difference for Christ. It is not a sin to face temptation, even Jesus faced it. Unlike us the Savior never gave into temptation.

You might be thinking now great Billy thanks for reminding me I will be tempted. Guess what? Yes, we will be tempted by the devil, but we with God’s help can defeat the evil one. Along with his plans for us.

In Matthew chapter four our Lord was tempted by the devil. In Matthew Jesus shows us how we can defeat the evil one like our Master did. Here in Matthew the devil tries to use the Bible to trick the Savior. The devil will use the Bible, but not correctly. What does the Lord do when he is tempted? He quotes the Word of God back to the devil who is the father of lies.

Here are some quotes in Matthew chapter 4 from Jesus.

“It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” http://esv.to/Matt4.4

“Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'” http://esv.to/Matt4.7

“Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.'” http://esv.to/Matt4.10

Jesus used the Bible to whip the devil. Child of God we too can whip the devil if we use the Bible correctly.

That is a thought on the Bible.

Until next time,

I’m Billy David Dickson
