Charlotte Ray Thomas, the wife of Cal Thomas died, but she is more alive today, than she was yesterday

( The wife of my friend column writer Cal Thomas died this last Saturday. Below is part of a radio commentary, and column Cal did to honor her. If you are a praying person, please pray for Cal along with his children, and grandchildren. God bless Ray, Cal, and all who love Ray. )

VALENTINE’S DAY MAY BE THE BEST DAY OF THE YEAR FOR A MAN TO PAY TRIBUTE TO HIS WIFE. MY WIFE OF FIFTY-ONE YEARS PASSED INTO THE PRESENCE OF GOD LAST SATURDAY. HER NAME IS CHARLOTTE RAY THOMAS. I ALWAYS SPEAK OF THOSE WHO HAVE DIED IN CHRIST IN THE PRESENT TENSE BECAUSE JESUS SAID ANYONE WHO BELIEVED IN HIM WOULD NEVER DIE.

“MEN, LOVE YOUR WIVES. DON’T WAIT UNTIL THEY ARE ABOUT TO BE TAKEN FROM YOU BEFORE YOU REALIZE WHAT THEY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO YOUR LIFE.  I AM GLAD MY WIFE AS SHE PREPARES TO MEET HER SAVIOR HAS KNOWN OF MY LOVE FOR HER AND HOW VALUABLE SHE HAS BEEN TO ME.

( Read the rest of this commentary, My Valentine Ray Thomas ,or listen to the audio of it here. Below is the column Thomas wrote to honor his wife. )

Most newspaper obituaries of the non-famous summarize a life in two or three paragraphs. Ray’s life was worth more than that. She was generous with her time and money, always spending and sending as much as she was able to her children and grandchildren. I can say without embellishment I would not be the man I am today without her. God knew what He was doing when He put us together.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Ray knew a strong woman where strength really counts. She knew who she was and wasn’t defined by the value system applied by the world, which regards fame, money and political power as supreme. To love and to be loved by someone like that for so long is a gift of great value.

( A tribute to Charlotte Ray )
