You got the power ( a thought on the Bible )

Listen to an audio on a thought on the Bible, or read it below.

Romans 1:16 in the Bible reads, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

I am Billy David Dickson with a thought on the Bible.

A purpose of the message of God is to show us the Lord’s power. We often think of the power of God when a big storm hits. But God’s power is mostly shown to us when he comes into a person’s life, and changes him. Paul here in Romans is saying he is proud of the good news. This is the same guy who use to be called Saul who persecuted those who embraced the good news. Now Paul is following the Lord himself. He is a changed man. If a changed person doesn’t show us the good news is true, it is hard to believe anything will do that. The Bible says if anyone is in Christ he, or she is a new creation. It is the power of God which changes a person. It is not what we do. It is what God has done for us. It is not us doing good works, or something super big like going to another nation as a missionary. It is the power of the good news which brings about change in us. Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

That is a thought on the Bible.

Until next time,
