WDC skylineA “Christian” church in Washington, D.C., that used to identify as part of the Southern Baptist Convention has recently hired “married” lesbian partners to co-pastor its congregation – a move that runs contrary to Scripture that defines marriage as only between one man and one woman.
Sally Sarrat and Maria Swearingen were introduced to church members at Calvary Baptist Church in the heart of the nation’s capital during its Sunday service, when it was announced that they will begin their duties to lead the flock on February 26.
Calvary Baptist Church Spokeswoman Carol Blyth appeared to have no reservations about the lesbian couple leading the church while living a lifestyle condemned by the Bible, which calls homosexual relationships an abomination to God.
“We look for the best people in the world and that’s who they were,” Blyth shared with the Religion News Service. “We’re very excited.”
Proudly announcing the church’s new arrangement to the American public, the church’s spokeswoman extolled the lesbian women by claiming their devotion to God’s Word – despite their refusal to abide by the Bible’s teaching on sexual morality.
Homosexuality a recent issue for Baptists
In the wake of the Episcopalian Church’s wholehearted acceptance of homosexuality, the Calvary Baptist decided to follow suit by promoting the LGBT agenda, which resulted in severing its longstanding relationship with the Southern Baptist Convention more than four years ago.
