Boston mayor to anti-gay-marriage Chick-fil-A: stay away

BOSTON (Reuters) – Boston Mayor Thomas Menino has waded into the national controversy surrounding fast food chain Chick-fil-A, whose president has publicly opposed same-sex marriage, urging the chicken sandwich sellers to stay out of Boston.

Even as the chain took heat from Menino, gay rights activists and even the Muppets, conservative politicians, including former Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum, pushed back.

A letter from Mayor Menino derided Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy for recent “prejudiced statements” against same-sex marriage, which has been legal in Massachusetts since 2004.

Posted on a Boston community page on the social media site Facebook on Wednesday, the letter has gone viral. It has been “liked” by more than 131,000 users and shared more than 46,000 times.

“In recent days you said Chick-fil-A opposes same-sex marriage, and said the generation that supports it has an ‘arrogant attitude,'” Menino wrote in the letter, dated July 20 and addressed to Cathy at Chick-fil-A’s Atlanta headquarters.

“Now – incredibly – your company says you are backing out of the same-sex marriage debate. I urge you to back out of your plans to locate in Boston.”

Billy Graham Backs Chick-fil-A Stand for the Bible

Dr. Billy Graham is stepping up to stand behind the Cathy family and its biblical stance for marriage — and the respected evangelist is encouraging others to do the same.

Truett Cathy and his son Dan, owners of Chick-fil-A, have lately been criticized for standing true to their faith, most recently because of Dan’s outspoken support for traditional, biblical marriage. A. Larry Ross, a spokesman for Billy Graham, tells why the pastor is stepping into the controversy.

“Mr. Graham wanted to express his longtime support for his good friends Truett and Dan Cathy and to commend them on their bold stand and strong witness for their Christian faith,” Ross shares.

Graham has issued a statement that reads, “Each generation faces different issues and challenges, but our standard [as Christians] must always be measured by God’s Word.”

Americans sound off on Romney and Obama religious beliefs

WASHINGTON – Most of America doesn’t relate to Mitt Romney’s religion and many are divided over whether President Obama is a Christian or a Muslim.

Those are the findings of a new Pew Research Center poll released Thursday, about a month before Republican Romney is set to become the first Mormon presidential nominee of a major political party.

Misgivings about the Mormon faith are widespread and persistent. Nearly two-thirds of non-Mormons said they see Romney’s faith as very different from their own while just half consider it a Christian faith. Those numbers are little changed since Romney’s first run for the presidency pushed Mormonism to the political forefront in 2007.

Despite those qualms, most voters who know that Romney is a devout Mormon say they are comfortable with his religious beliefs, and few voters reject his candidacy solely because of concerns about his faith.

Blame the Shooter Not the Gun

Too many are blaming guns for that horrible shooting at that movie in CO.

Below is something from the BLOG FOR THE PUBLICATION “FIREARMS” BY STANLEY MCDANIEL….
“LONG BEFORE THE INVENTION OF GUNPOWDER, MEN SLAUGHTERED EACH OTHER WITH OTHER WEAPONS, KILLING MANY THOUSANDS, EVEN TENS OF THOUSANDS, IN A SPAN OF HOURS IN SINGLE BATTLES. THE TOOL IS NEVER THE ISSUE; THE ISSUE IS THE CHARACTER – OR LACK THEREOF – OF THE MAN OR WOMAN WIELDING THE TOOL.”

For Planned Parenthood, bad news becoming commonplace

WASHINGTON (BP) — There’s good news and bad news for Planned Parenthood.
The good news is the Obama administration continues to go out of its way to funnel money to the country’s No. 1 abortion provider.

The bad news is Planned Parenthood can’t stop scandals and negative reports from reaching at least some of the American public. For instance:

— A 24-year-old woman died July 20 after undergoing an abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Chicago, according to the CBS television affiliate in that city.

Aurora victim: God’s light outshines dark

AURORA, Colo. (BP) — In the aftermath of the Aurora, Colo., theater massacre, an injured victim stands out as a beacon of forgiveness.
He is Pierce O’Farrill, one of 58 moviegoers injured July 20th when a heavily armed masked gunman, now in police custody, charged into the dark theater and systematically and seemingly indiscriminately began shooting. O’Farrill was shot in the right arm and left foot, and has shrapnel lodged in his chest.

Twelve others were killed.

“I’m not angry at him. I’ll pray for him,” O’Farrill said. “This is going to be hard for people to understand, but I feel sorry for him. When I think what that soul must be like to have that much hatred and that much anger in his heart — what every day must be like. I can’t imagine getting out of bed every morning and having that much anger and hatred for people that he undoubtedly has.”

“There is evil in this world, and there is a darkness,” O’Farrill said. “There is an enemy, but the wonderful news is there is a Light, and there is a Light that shines brighter than the darkness ever imagined.”

Ryan Heller, O’Farrill’s pastor at The Edge Church in Aurora, said O’Farrill has opened a much-needed dialogue on forgiveness.

“Some of the other survivors have said that they can’t or won’t forgive. Reporters are contrasting him against other survivors so it is important to understand what Jesus says about forgiving,” Heller said. “While so many people are questioning God in this time, Pierce is a light in the darkness. His faith is increasing, growing and maturing while many are in doubt. Pierce is like a rock.”

Heller focused on forgiveness in his sermon the Sunday following the attack.

Obama Thanks Gay Porn Boss For Campaign Support

Last night at a fundraiser, President Obama and his staff either didn’t vet the background of donors or they just didn’t seem to care about giving a shout out to a leader in the gay porn industry, Terry Bean.
